What is the 'Update Service'
The PACTware Update Service (from version 6.2) allows you to organize updates of DTMs for your computers. Installation directly from PACTware is now possible. You will also be informed about available updates for already installed DTMs in the familiar PACTware environment.
Display in the device catalog
After clicking on the 3-point menu (1), the "Cloud" filter setting displays all DTMs that are not yet installed but are made available by PACTware members via the "Update Service".
DTMs for which a newer version (update) is available are marked with the symbol (2). You can also update several DTMs at the same time.
Install updates
The context menu (3) of an entry in the device catalog shows Install update next to Info. You can then install the corresponding update if required.
If you click on Info, you will see a comparison of the DTM information (4) of the installed version and the version in the cloud. If needed, start the installation with (5).
Access to the manufacturer's site and the authenticity of the downloaded installation package are guaranteed by security mechanisms.
Special note on DTM updates
In the toolbar, the icon (6) shows DTMs for which an update is available. The number on the icon indicates the number of available DTM installation packages. A DTM installation package can also contain several DTMs.
A DTM corresponds to one entry in the device catalog.
Clicking on (6) opens a window with the list of packages.
Click on one of the packages (7) to display the content.
If there is only one package, the content is displayed directly.
A window will then open with the contents of the installation package.
However, the filtering in this view only serves to simplify the search for contained DTMs and does not make a specific selection for the subsequent installation. The button (8) is used to call up the complete manufacturer-specific setup.
It may be possible to select specific DTMs there.
Deactivating the update service
The update service can be deactivated. To do this, deselect option (9) in the settings.
After restarting PACTware, the service is then no longer active.
